This article analyzes Haiti as a strategic territory of political and epistemic insurgency within the Latin American context of the Present Time, with emphasis on the post–Cold War period. The analysis is based on the theoretical framework of decoloniality, formulated by Aníbal Quijano and developed by Walter D. Mignolo, with particular focus on the notion of epistemic disobedience. It discusses the intellectual protagonism of Haitian thinkers such as Michel-Rolph Trouillot, Jean Casimir, Frédéric Boisrond, Laënnec Hurbon, and Patrick Bellegarde-Smith in the face of external interventions, including those carried out by the UN and international agencies that have deepened neocolonial dynamics. The study also examines the resistance of popular movements, such as Mouvman Peyizan Papay [Peasant Movement of the Papaye Region], which is integrated into transnational networks. Haiti is thus reaffirmed as a space of struggle for epistemic and political sovereignty in contemporary Latin America.
