FIOS LITERÁRIOS NA TEIA DA HISTÓRIA: paternalismo, escravidão e pós-abolição num romance de Anna Ribeiro

The present text analyzes the romance Letícia (1908), published by the writer of Bahia Anna Ribeiroof Araújo Góes Bittencourt (1843-1930), in the perspective of the New Cultural History. The social typesenrolled in their characters and the described atmospheres in a detailed way, they reveal the representations, thefears, the values and the longings of the elite of the Bay area from Bahia in the ends of the century XIX. It ismade a crossing of the literature produced by the author with the sources and the pertinent bibliographicalreferences to the period, besides the mention the some readings which Anna Ribeiro had access. A crossedreading between Letícia and The Father Tomás' Hut (1852) she reveals that Anna Ribeiro rediscussed therelative subjects to the slavery, the abolition and to the present powder-abolition in the prose of Harriet B.Stowe, besides enrolling some present models in the imaginary elegant under a paternalist optics, withouthowever, to leave of representing the contradictions of that ideology.Downloads
